The National Medical Commission (NMC) has ordered medical schools to update their websites by the end of this month. Congratulating colleges on the start of the new academic term, NMC’s Medical Assessment and Rating Board said that while many colleges have updated their websites, some have yet to complete the process. Ordering these colleges to update their websites by March 31, MARB also warned of penalties for failing to comply with the order.
“We are happy to see the website with updated information on some colleges. Some colleges still haven’t updated the information till date. Failure to comply will result in penalties. Colleges must update their website by March 31, 2022,” the official notice reads.

Meanwhile, the NMC has removed the upper age limit to sit for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) 2022 for admission to undergraduate medical courses like MBBS, BDS and others. In issuing the official notice, NMC Secretary Dr. Pulkesh Kumar said the decision to remove the age restriction was taken at the fourth NMC meeting held on October 21 last year. He added that the amendment to the Higher Medical Education Regulations 1997 has already been launched.
The National Testing (NTA) which conducts NEET has been requested by the NMC to modify the information bulletin and remove the age limit criteria mentioned in the bulletin for candidates applying for NEET. The NTA, however, has yet to issue an official notice.

While also currently there was no limit for NEETs, this was only part of an interim relief given by the Supreme Court order after a group of students challenged the government’s decision to set an upper age limit for general category students at 25 and reserve category students at 30, six years back. The court had suspended the application of the order until a final judgment in the case.
