According to a study by Best SEO Companies titled “Why Businesses Prioritize Website Redesign”, website redesign is currently in hyperdrive. And 1 in 3 business leaders reported a bad mobile experience as a top issue with redesigned websites?

Given that 61% of U.S. website visits in 2020 were generated by mobile devices, it’s no surprise that business owners want the experience to be better. And as the rollout of 5G continues to increase, mobile will dominate even more.

In the study, more than a third or 34% identified a bad mobile experience as one of the many issues with their website after it was rebuilt. It is important to note that this is after the site has been rebuilt. For those small business owners who pay for these services, understanding what is going to happen is critical to making sure the job is done correctly.

Read the contract carefully and have the company go over each task with you. This way, you will know what to expect before you spend your hard earned money.

Other issues revealed by the study after a website redesign included website sluggishness (56%), broken links (45%), missing pages (42%), e-commerce functions broken (38%) and several others.

The study also looked at SEO metrics for a website redesign as more and more small business owners are increasingly aware of the importance of SEO. Optimizing the speed of existing pages and content, as well as crawling the current site and inventory performing content are issues.

Why redesign?

Having a digital presence is crucial for a business in today’s market. And the site needs to be fully optimized to take advantage of the technology.

In the study, the main reason for redesigning a website is to build brand awareness with 49% of respondents. Driving sales (44%), increasing traffic (43%), improving the customer experience (40%) and attracting new hires (39%) round out the top five reasons.

The reasons also vary by business size, with smaller businesses looking to improve accessibility, drive sales, and increase traffic.

In the survey, top SEO companies surveyed 437 business owners and 367 SEO experts about issues with website redesign processes.
